Anand Kumar (born 1 January 1973) is an Indian mathematician and a columnist for various national and international mathematical journals and magazines. He is best known for his Super 30 programme, which he started in Patna, Bihar in 2002, and which coaches economically backward students for IIT-JEE, the entrance examination for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). By 2017, 396 out of the 450 had made it to IITs and Discovery Channel showcased his work in a documentary. He has been invited by the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University to speak on his globally acclaimed effort to mentor students from the underprivileged sections for admission to IIT.

कौन बनेगा करोड़पति के सीजन नौ की शुरुआत हो गई है। इस बार केबीसी में बिहार के बड़े सेलिब्रेटी के तौर पर सुपर 30 के संस्थापक आनंद कुमार हॉट सीट पर सदी के महानायक अमिताभ बच्चन के साथ बैठेंगे। वे अमिताभ बच्चन के सवालों का जबाव देते दिखेंगे। कार्यक्रम का प्रसारण 8 सितंबर को होगा। एक निजी चैनल के सूत्रों ने बताया कि हॉट पर आनंद कुमार ने सात सवालों का जबाव दिया। इन्होंने 25 लाख रुपये जीते। इस दौरान एक-दो बार आनंद कुमार सवालों का जबाव देने में फंसे। इनका सहयोग इनके एक विद्यार्थी ने दिया। आईआईटी के एक छात्र अनूप कुमार ने एक सवाल का जबाव बताकर इन्हें राशि जिताने में मदद की। बता दें कि शिक्षा क्षेत्र में उल्लेखनीय योगदान के चलते हुए चयन।
Super 30 is an Indian educational program that started in Patna, Bihar, India under the banner of ‘Ramanujan School of Mathematics’, by Anand Kumar. Established in 2002, the program selects 30 meritorious and talented candidates each year from economically backward sections of society and trains them for the IIT-JEE, the entrance examination for Indian Institute of Technology. Time Magazine has selected mathematician Anand Kumar’s school – Super 30 – in the list of Best of Asia 2010., Super 30 received praise from United States President Barack Obama’s special envoy Rashad Hussain, who termed it the “best” institute in the country. Newsweek Magazine has taken note of the initiative of mathematician Anand Kumar’s Super 30 and included his school in the list of four most innovative schools in the world. Anand Kumar has been awarded the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Shiksha Puraskar, the highest award by the Government of Bihar in November 2010.
